Little random things written, my days captured.
after almost a year and a half of zoology, we finally got to go to the zoo!nothing like the one we've got in Singapore.. nothing close. it's just mainly marsupials and other aussie animals. but it was fun nonetheless. observing how the animals have grown so close to the keeper just made me want to graduate sooner and be a keeper too.
the adorable little wombat kept begging the keeper to carry him like how a baby would, tugging at his legs and try to climb onto his lap. sweet little thing... which even had a blankie to sleep with. (i still can't get pictures up unfortunately)
the juvenile devils were peeking into his jacket pockets looking for things to play. mischievious little ones, bluffing their bites. they even held on to his pants when he tried walking away. ha.. so cute.
[oh Cody, this is the wildlife park that i brought you and Aaron to the other time... in case you wanted to know.]
the zoo was a very nice break away from the usual pracs but the assignment that follows is as horrible as any other. it doesn't help that it's due the same day as my major assignment, which is scientific journal! work is piling up like nobody's business. second year of uni is simply crazy!
my consolation? my friend/housemate who's doing final year law and has a whole lot more work than me + moots this week. heh. oh! and guess what his case is about? divorce. i was going through his case with him and i have to admit i kinda miss law and my work back at LAB but at the same time, i'm glad to be out of it. i wanted to go watch him and at the same time check out the Court here... but he wouldn't let me. =(
on a totally separate note, sweet potatoe soup and green bean soup makes the perfect supper for cold hobart days. it's something about them that gives you this warm fuzzy familiar comfort that kinda feels like being in mummy's embrace. mmm. but stay away from them if you're planning to study till late. the warm sweetness will make you drowsy for sure! all that because i have green bean soup in the kitchen. =)
Oh YES, how can i forget... we had something very local and very special last friday... PASAR MALAM! yep.. pasar malam right here in Hobart with all the local goodness that comes by in the form of yummy food. Roti Prata, Char Kway Teow, Satay, Muah Chee, Cup corn, Fishballs on sticks, Spring Rolls, Bandung and an overwhelming crowd! Most of the food disappeared within the first half an hour. It was amazing! we wanted to have pirated DVDs and music CDs, past-year exam papers, Bolsters (there aren't bolsters in Aussie for some reason), but nope there weren't any of those unfortunately. i really like it when we bring the Singaporean flavour into Hobart with events as such, where the Aussies understand a bit more about our culture and enjoy what we've got to offer. Yet another successful event.
something i learnt over the past few days: typing out a bird list is bloody time-consuming. who knew? how come nobody told me?! i spent an entire day glued to my laptop and managed to list only 18 birds. craziness! but that's handed in this morning... thank goodness.
if everything goes as planned, i'm going diving this Sunday in Tassie waters for my first time! and if everything else goes as planned, Spring + Summer school will work out and i might only be home for 2-3 weeks at the end of the year. lalala... =)
