like ants on fire

my baby brother is a weird thing.
he is a creature of routines and eats only things he is comfortable with.
now let me list the things he eats: chicken rice, prata, fishball noodles, wonton noodles with no wonton, chicken cutlet/chop, fish and chips, sausage bread and fast food, and a combination of parts of the abovementioned.
as for his routine: go to school, study, play computer games, eat and sleep.
it's quite predictable.
so when he does something out of the ordinary... it's pretty darn amazing.

on the way back from tassie, he had the choice of beef and fish on the menu and he chose beef. we were amazed but that's not all. he commented on how good it was and finished the entire thing. both me and my mum were giggling away. my brother ate something different.

but nothing beats what happened last night. it was classic!
we were having a steamboat dinner. my brother as usual does not care much for such things. he came out from his usual position in front of the computer screen, fished out the sausages (put in just for him) and fishballs, finished it all in an instant and went back into his room to be in his favourite spot. nothing out of the ordinary.
towards the end of dinner as we were finishing up the last bits, i suggested to my parents we played Citadels after dinner and my dad suggested Scrabble. then a voice came out behind us agreeing to Scrabble... my brother. all of us stopped chewing... we couldn't. he had a condition though... it has to be NOW. so what does the family do? stopped our dinner there and then, turn off the steamboat, cleared the table, clean it up and settled down to play games just because it's not everyday you get to sit down with my brother for a period longer than his meal, much less to play family games together. it's hilarious to see the family scrambling about to clear everything and giving up the remaining of dinner just because my brother wants to play NOW. it's just a natural response.
in the end, we played both Citadels AND Scrabble at the same time.

ahhh... my baby brother... the weird thing.
