ocella-vista baby!
Niveoscincus ocellatus... (pronounced Or-sir-lah-ters)that's the name of my new babies. pretty ain't it?
those little ones are adorable. all boys by the way... all 39 of them. Woot! they look hot (literally too) when they're out on their basking rock in cool poses. some of them are pretty tame and quite the gentleman, others are just fiesty little things. although some of them chose the technique of opening their jaws wide for the garang look, it didn't quite work. they look absolutely adorable that way. they do bite though... so it's not always an empty threat. since taking them out of hibernation on Wednesday, i've been pee-d on multiple times and bitten once. that boy was just hanging off my finger with its jaws and wouldn't let go. quite amusing.
going in to the lab for another bonding session with the boys today and another one tmr. more pee and hopefully no bites.
will post pics of my little babies soon... once i get them. =)

RIP
my laptop (which i never named)11.01.2007-02.08.2009
the countless reports it had to churn out,
all that data it had to analyse,
the heap of scientific papers stored in its memory.
even my laptop cannot stand the stress of uni life.
it has given up and wouldn't even fight this last battle with me.
sigh... why did it have to go now?
i've only got a few months more till i'm done.
i am going to miss it lots!
especially during this period.
thank goodness Joyce has another laptop to spare.
but it just won't be the same...
and i'm still getting used to this new machine.
(i now have access to all the blogger functions though and can easily upload pics now.)
trying to get comfortable with it now.
not sure if i'm going to get myself a new laptop yet.
with much influene and persuasion from Joyce & Joshua, i am considering getting myself a Mac.
but that would mean i need to time to get used to it and i'm not sure i can afford that now.
then again, whichever laptop i get... it'll probably still take time to get used to.
mehhhhh... why does this have to happen now?
why can't i just have a smooth-sailing semester?
i did somehow sense it was coming though but i was hoping i'd be lucky.
guess not.

Sem 6 : Week 3
i'm not sure if it's due to age, stress or otherwise...but my memory is deteriorating like nobody's business.
i was stuck in the lab last Friday afternoon to get some statistical stuff analysed for my research. then guess what i found out today? i saved all my work on the temporary workdrive in school and forgot to transfer my work to my thumbdrive. GREAT! thing is now i can only access those files in that particular lab on that exact same PC (if it's still there). when i realised this... i was in another lab. so i grabbed my stuff... ran down a floor to the other end of the building, all the while hoping nobody's using that particular computer and that my files are still there.
now... i'm in that lab on that computer and WHEW! my files are still here! but i realised... i forgot my jacket which is up in the other lab!!!
this is freaking me out... SERIOUSLY!!!
and this stresses me out further... bah.
i suppose there's a reason our body parts are permanently attached to us...
otherwise, i might have left my head at home (although sometimes i do feel i've left my brain at home)... or my hand at the cafe... or my leg in the lab... i dunno how i'd ever be able to function.
actually... i might just blame this forgetfulness spell on eric.
hanging out with him too much has caused his forgetfulness to somehow diffuse across to me. mehhhh.....
updated: i need to start working on another set of data but i just realised that the document is at home on my laptop. i forgot to save it on my thumbdrive. darn!

sem 6: week 2
only 3 modules and ONE official day of classes... but still i can't seem to find enough time to get work done. i'm already feeling the pressure and the stress two weeks in. that can't be any good. keeping my fingers and toes crossed that that i get through this semester and graduate like planned. this semester is all about research. one's a research module and is kinda like a mini-honours project. the other 2 mods include a major research component. this means a lot of experimentations and playing around with animals (fun bits) but it also means a lot of statistical analyses (bleah bits) and hopefully we'll also get interesting findings and results (yeah bits). it's going to be exciting but the workload is absolutely crazy. it's almost like doing 3 mini-honours projects on 3 absolutely diverse topics at one go.
sigh... and i thought this last sem was going to be an easy semester. my timetable has successfully deceived me. it's about time i start searching for my long-lost self-discipline and my neglected independence to get me through this last uni battle.
it's going to be another helluva 13weeks. wish me luck!
